The design brief by Vummudi Bangaru Jewellers was to create statement earrings for a celebrity client, tailored for the red carpet. The design needed to be deeply rooted in South Indian culture. Drawing from cultural references and research, the journey led to the revival of Souri.

Souri is a captivating reinterpretation of the traditional Madurai earring, designed to blend cultural heritage with contemporary flair. The piece plays with the anatomy of the ear, creating an illusion of multiple earrings stacked together, transforming the classic design into a bold, modern statement. At the heart of the design is malachite, a stone renowned not only for its striking green hue but also for its health benefits, adding depth and meaning to the piece.
