Ocean Whispers
In the ocean’s vast depths, where the marine kingdom sustains the delicate balance of our planet, a quiet crisis is unfolding. Discarded fishing nets, crafted from durable nylon, drift through the waters, evolving into ghostly traps. These seemingly safe havens become deadly snares, endangering the innocent creatures of the sea.
To address this critical issue, I turned to nature for inspiration. The loofah sponge, with its net-like texture, emerged as the perfect material to symbolize the plight of trapped sea creatures. Sourced from the vine-growing Luffa plants, the loofah was directly cast in gold, bypassing traditional CAD and CAM processes. The result is a gold net that captures the essence of both beauty and environmental advocacy. Each strand is meticulously filed to smooth its edges, and through the art of acid polishing, it preserves the loofah’s natural texture.Loofah is cut and placed gently enhancing the beauty of the innovative jewellery.
The bangle is adorned with an ombre of blue topaz and aquamarine gemstones, capturing the tranquil waves of the ocean. Within this sea of blue, delicate turtles enameled in green symbolize the marine life trapped in ghost nets, awaiting rescue. This bangle is a narrative jewellery that calls for awareness and action, urging us to embrace sustainability.
